“Moscow” reflects on the shifting relationship between past and present, where memory is shaped as much by what is concealed as by what is preserved. The background layers carry traces of forms and lines that have been muted or overpainted, creating a sense of partial erasure — an image that feels curated, interrupted, or selectively reconstructed. These veiled strata echo the way narratives can be shaped to fit prevailing perspectives, leaving much of the underlying history only faintly perceptible.
Against this altered ground, the vertical bands establish a contrasting rhythm. The softer, pastel-toned stripes suggest an older architectural presence, while the darker, heavier forms introduce a more dominant and contemporary register. Their juxtaposition creates a skyline that feels both layered and unsettled, a meeting of eras where different versions of the city coexist, overlap, and compete for visibility.

A painting with vertical black and pastel-colored stripes overlaying a more intricate background of intersecting lines and rectangles in shades of blue, beige, and red. The background appears partially washed out, with some lines brought back in vibrant colors.
