Bio & CV

Joerg Kesín is an artist based in Valencia, Spain. Born in Hamburg, Germany, he spent extended periods in Russia and Uzbekistan during the 1990s following the break-up of the Soviet Union, travelling, studying, and working across the region before later living in London and eventually settling in Spain.

Working mainly with oil and acrylic, Kesín’s paintings explore perception, memory, and emotion through layered abstraction. Each work develops gradually, using transparent and opaque layers, gestures, and shifting surfaces to build compositions that suggest internal landscapes or quiet narratives.

Often beginning with a subject or idea, the paintings become more intuitive and open-ended through the process of painting itself. Kesín is particularly interested in the tension between clarity and obscurity, control and accident, allowing forms and relationships to emerge slowly over time.

Rather than offering fixed meanings, the works remain intentionally open, inviting viewers to spend time with the shifting connections between layers, gestures, and forms.
