Khiva, from the Stripes series, draws loosely on impressions of the historic city, where architecture, pattern, and shifting light create a sense of layered rhythm. The vertical bands establish a clear structural presence, echoing the upright forms of walls, columns, and narrow streets that define the city’s spatial character.
Within and between these strong lines, traces of softer colour and movement appear, mirroring the coexistence of solid architectural order with more fluid, atmospheric qualities — heat, shadow, and the quiet repetition of patterned surfaces.
A darker grid overlays the composition, reinforcing this sense of structure while subtly interrupting what lies beneath, as if the image is being measured, framed, or held in place.
